Digital Dimes: Mastering Cashback, Rebates, & Budget Friendly Apps

With all of the economic and political uncertainties in the world right now, it can often feel as though life keeps throwing financial curveballs our way. The cost of living keeps rising, housing expenses are at an all-time high, and budgetary constraints are affecting most families.

I’m sure by now you have tightened the belt and cut back on some luxuries ā€“ but there is always a little something more that we can do to make our necessary household purchases a little more wallet-friendly and stretch our budget just a little bit further.

For this next step – we’re diving into a world of digital and mobile apps that can help put some extra cashback in your pocket.

So, let’s talk about how we can make every dollar count.

1. Digital Coupons for Savings

One of the simplest yet incredibly effective ways to trim your family’s expenses is by using coupons. Gone are the days of clipping paper coupons from newspapers.

Really, who even reads physical newspapers anymore?

Instead, today there is an abundance of user-friendly coupon apps that allow you to browse and select discounts specific to your shopping needs and preferences.

Popular apps like RetailMeNot, Coupons.com, and Honey are your go-to tools for instant savings on groceries, clothing, and various other necessities.

Although each of these apps/websites can do multiple things, they each excel in a specific area – and together they can be very powerful.

RetailMeNot is the perfect place for digital coupons and promo codes, Honey provides an easy-to-use dashboard and browser extension that automatically scans for available discount codes at checkout when shopping online, and Coupons.com helps you search and print coupons based on the item needed or the store you are going to.

And donā€™t forget to download Mobile Loyalty Apps for the stores you visit the most ā€“ locations like Krogers, Publix, Walgreens, CVS, BJs, Winn Dixie, Target, Costco, Michaels ā€“ even Dollar General and Family Dollar provide easy real-time access to additional savings based on date and location.

In full transparency, all of these apps can be a little time-consuming.ā€‚For most of these applications, you do physically need to log on and search the site, clicking and adding the digital coupons to your account.

But the savings can definitely add up ā€“ especially when you stack up using multiple apps at the same time.

2. Cash Back and Rebate Apps

Cashback and rebate apps offer a unique way to earn money back on your everyday purchases. Apps such as Rakuten (formerly Ebates), Ibotta, and Fetch Rewards offer cashback or gift card rewards for shopping through their links or for submitting receipts after your purchase. This can add up over time, effectively putting money back in your pocket.

Some of these apps like Iobotta and Fetch require a little more effort through the optional syncing of emails or the scanning of receipts ā€“ others, like Rakuten and Honey can be installed on your browser toolbar and work seamlessly to find coupons at checkout or provide you cash-back.

This is by far my favorite method to use and I make sure to use it with all big or online purchases!

With Rakuten alone, Iā€™ve received over $400 cash back since I started using it.

Added bonus for those of you interested in using Honey – this browser add-on can also show you trending prices and alternative online shops with better deals.

2. Browser Extensions for Price Tracking

Another nifty online tool is the use of browser extensions like CamelCamelCamel for Amazon or PriceBlink. These extensions monitor price fluctuations on various websites and alert you when products drop in price.

These browser extensions are like your virtual shopping BFFs. They keep an eye on prices across different websites, swooping in to alert you the moment your coveted products take a dip in price. It’s like having a personal shopping assistant without the hefty salary.

By tapping into the wonders of the digital and mobile age, and making the most of online tools and applications, you’re not just facing financial challenges ā€“ you’re actively safeguarding your financial well-being.

Coupons, price comparison apps, cashback and rebate apps, budgeting apps, browser extensions for price tracking, and mobile savings and loyalty apps all work together to form a formidable force that can truly move the needle on your family’s savings.

Incorporating these apps into your daily routine isn’t just a smart move, it lets you harness the potential of digital and mobile resources and helps navigate these changing economic times with a little more confidence.

Here’s to embracing a brighter and more financially secure future!
